Today, let’s talk about cricket! There are seldom any people (like me) who do not enjoy every cricket match there is. Even those with not such a keen interest in the sport enjoy witnessing a match or two when two good teams are pitted against one another. It is for this reason that gamblers love to bet on teams and bookies like to try to fix matches.
But match-fixing and betting are severely looked down upon by the organisers of the sport. BCCI once banned two teams and their owners from participating in the Indian Premier League on the grounds of tarnishing the game by indulging in betting.
Recently, a video of a cricket match held in Dubai T20 League surfaced the internet and has prompted the ICC (International Cricket Council) to start an investigation through their anti-corruption unit.
As per a report by Times Now, the match, which was the fourth of the T20 Ajman All-Stars League series, was played between Dubai Stars and Sharjah Warriors on 24th January 2018. While the Sharjah Warriors made a decent 136 runs off 20 overs, Dubai Stars got all-out in just 46 runs.
The video clearly shows the batsmen giving away wickets for no rhyme or reason. There were 3 runouts and 5 stump-outs which make the dismissals shocking as well as questionable.
