Engineering is more than just a syllabus, more than just a degree. It’s a way of life. You will go through 60 subjects, 200 internals and 300 assignments. You’ll spend four years, give or take, doing all kinds of great things. You will take road trips and have all night parties, end up in your first serious relationship, or take your first toke of weed, or maybe spend your first night in jail. It is 4 years of a crazy roller coaster ride.
So, here are 19 things that probably everyone can relate to, but only an engineer can understand it.
1. Getting backlogs for the first time
You thought, engineering is same as studying for class tests in school.
2. Karan Johar lied. Colleges are not like those shown in the movies
3. Pain of Engineering Graphics classes
4. Fear of being ragged for the first time
5. Lab vivas – no less than job interviews
And then, The breaking news reporter like feeling when you ask the person coming out from the viva room “Kya poocha?”
6. Anxiety of CGPA after semester break
7. Maggi as the main food supplement
8. Joining the ‘joint group’ of seniors
9. Bunking classes is your religion and Bob Marley is your God
10. Studying commerce could have been a better option
You realize engineering is/was not your cup of tea.
11. Pain of absence of girlfriends
12. And then, pain of presence of girlfriend
13. Tech fests and cultural fests – more important than the degree itself
14. Incessant gaming
15. Understanding that almost everything we study, will most certainly NEVER be applied to our lives
16. Night out
17. Appearing for semesters without even knowing the name of  the subject
/woman.
18. Take a resolution to study from the next semester and never follow it
19. Lastly, the desperation to complete engineering during college and wishing to go back to college during work life
Once you pursue engineering, you get to discover yourself and you realize what your actual interests are. You do all kinds of shitty things which you must’ve imagined in your wildest dreams. But most importantly you get to learn a lot about life, which apparently, no one can teach you at school.
Undoubtedly, the best four years of your life.
