25-year-old Karuppusamy from Coimbatore, TN is an auto-driver-turned-local-hero. Why? Because he refuses to take money from expecting mothers and schoolchildren for rides.
Not just that, on tracing his roots, it has come to the fore that Karuppusamy–who hails from a poor family–holds a Post-graduate degree in Tamil literature which he attained on a government scholarship. No wonder, he does what he does.
Reports even suggest that he, along with his noble cause, wants to continue his studies and get an MPhil degree in Tamil literature.
That is precisely why he bought a second-hand autorickshaw to raise money but what inspires us, is his generosity that is not affected by the pennies in his pocket.
Although this isn’t the first time that we have heard of a Coimbatore auto-driver making news (remember the man who charged just 1 rupee for any rickshaw ride?), Karuppusamy’s reason fills our heart and restores our faith in humanity.
