There is no denying the fact that the video-sharing app TikTok is highly entertaining. From amusing magic tricks to intriguing ATM hacks, it has it all. But there is also a dark side to it that involves inappropriate content, cyberbullying and other crimes. This particular incident though does not fall into either category. Here’s what happened.
According to Business Insider, Jayapradha, a resident of Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, lived with her husband Suresh and two children. However, in 2016, Suresh went missing. He could not be traced even after filing a missing person report at the police station.
3 year after his disappearance, Jayapradha’s relative came across a TikTok video that had a man resembling Suresh. Upon confirming that is was, in fact, him Jayapradha alerted law enforcement officials.
The police found him in Hosur. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Suresh had abandoned his family as he was unhappy due to problems. He was working in a tractor company as a mechanic and living with a trans woman.
The New Indian Express quoted a police official saying,
“The trans woman was also in the video, and we traced them down with the help of the transgender association in Villupuram. We have counselled Jayapradha and Suresh and have sent them back home.”
This is probably the most bizarre and unexpected result of watching a TikTok video, don’t you agree?
