Sundar Pichai is one of the most celebrated and the highest-paid CEOs around the world. But looks like he just declined a huge fortune that was headed his way!
Reports are rife that Pichai, the CEO of Google, turned down a big, new grant of restricted stock (worth millions in 2018) that was offered to him. The reason?
Pichai felt that he is being paid more than enough for his job and refused to take the extra stock. The exact amount that he passed up is, however, quite unclear. But it’s estimated to be about $58 million (i.e. Rs. 405 Crore), reports TNIE.
While people are baffled about why he would refuse such a fortune from the company, the real reason is not exactly known.
The parent company, Alphabet, however, reportedly plans to hold a meeting to discuss and revise the payroll of Pichai by the end of this year. But until then, the previous stocks will already have been granted to him.
So, here’s Pichai, redefining the idiom ‘Lalach buri bala hai’ for us!
