32 Students In Kerala Open Roadside Eatery To Help Classmate Treat His Sister’s Renal Failure

As the saying goes, ‘A friend in need is a friend indeed’. From helping each other in studies to saving us from getting an earful from our parents, a good friend always stands by you, no matter what. It is someone you can count on and turn to at any point in life. Sometimes, they also surprise us by unexpectedly going far and beyond to get you out of trouble.

And, friends and classmates of KS Aromal from Sree Gokulam SNGM Catering College in Kerala just proved it right. Aromal’s 23-year-old sister Aiswarya KS is suffering from renal failure, reports TNIE.

Doctors have advised a kidney transplant for her. Though a relative of theirs has agreed to donate one of his kidneys to Aiswarya, the cost of the transplant is expected to be around Rs 20 lakh.

Accordingly, their father sold 15 cents of land at Thalandu, Pala, which accounts for all the funds he has for the transplant.

“Aiswarya was undergoing treatment at the Kottayam Medical College, but we had to shift her to a private hospital in Ernakulam. Many people from our village offered help for treatment, but it was not sufficient,” Aromal said.

So, Aromal’s classmates decided to help their friend in saving his sister’s life. 32 of his classmates contributed Rs 700 each to set up a roadside eatery on National Highway. They have divided themselves into batches to run the eatery. They mainly serve dosa, parotta, Omelette, beef curry and chicken curry at their eatery. All the profit, thus, collected is being used for Aiswarya’s treatment.

“It was after coming to know about their situation that, we, the fifth-semester students, decided to generate money for Aiswarya’s treatment. And we decided to start the thattukada. Looking back, it was a good decision as we’ve been able to make Rs 4,000-Rs 5,000 as profit daily,” Aroma’s classmate Aswin told Republic.

Aromal’s friends and classmates are truly an inspiration for many. We all need such selfless and helpful friends in our life. Kudos to his classmates!
