If we were to speak about our society in general, a wife earning more than her husband is looked down upon because traditionally, the man is considered to be the provider of the family. In many households, women working is still considered a big deal, many of whom are asked to leave their jobs after marriage or childbirth. So, if a woman earns more than her husband, she is often looked upon as a threat who would apparently make her husband dance on top of her fingertips.
Such kind of a mentality also gives rise to multiple marriage disputes. Oftentimes, the male ego comes in the way as husbands become insecure about their wives’ greater income. Hence, there’s a lot of hostility and several stereotypes associated with women who earn more than their husbands, even when it is practically beneficial given today’s economic climate.
