The sunrise of 25th February brought with it devastating and shocking news. India lost one of its first female superstar – the Bollywood Diva Sridevi. Initially believed to have died of a cardiac arrest, an autopsy report revealed that the cause of death was ‘accidental drowning’ in the bathtub. A lot of media circus went on in the aftermath of this news.
The diva’s mortal remains were finally brought back home in Ambani’s chartered plane on the night of 27th February. Thousands of fans, most of the film fraternity and her extended family gathered yesterday to bid a final farewell to ‘Chandni’.

After being brought back home, the condolence meeting was held at ‘Celebrations Sports Club’, in Andheri Lokhandwala, Mumbai, which is where Sridevi resided with her family.
However, Shobhaa De, who is known for her unnecessary remarks and judgmental views, thought it was really ironic that such an iconic diva’s condolence meet was held at a venue called ‘Celebrations Sports Club’.
Irony of ironies. A Diva's condolence meeting at a venue named ' Celebration Sport's Club.'

I fail to understand how people like her can find ironies in such dark times. When the nation is grieving the loss of its favourite actor, the one who changed the face of cinema, she decided it was necessary to express her pointless opinion on the selection of the venue.
Twitter gave her a lot of hate for her comment and honestly, she deserves every bit of it.
1. Jackky makes his point well.
The truth is we are all going to die someday. The measure of what you leave behind is how people will mourn your passing. #Sridevi Ji’s legacy is to be celebrated. The world will remember that and not the untimely, petty musings of an attention seeker. #ShowSomeRespect https://t.co/lqlNClhfFk

2. Why would anyone like being hated?

3. If we must decode the venue’s name, let’s just settle on the fact that we were celebrating her life. Okay?
And the irony was only for your eyes. The rest of us celebrated her in life, and in passing. A condolence note would be gladly appreciated by the family and the fans instead of the ill-thought lines.

4. Because the circus that the media had going was clearly not enough…
Can you just have some sense, can you even realise the pain her family is going through can you even imagine how her daughters must have suffered since shri Devi passed at least be human enough to not criticise her last journey

5. It’s a disgusting makeup of her mind.
This woman's lusting for publicity even be it at a departed soul's funeral. That too, of it being while the body's lying in state shows the fantastic makeup of this woman's mind.

6. Yeah, she will never understand it.
Her existence and her departure is and will always be a celebration. It’s ok, you won’t get it.

7. This one’s too harsh, but what she said is equally bad too.
Only if we could exchange Sridevi for Shobha De, what a bad deal that would be for God.

8. In the end, it doesn’t even matter, Shobhaa.
Does it matter what the name of the venue is?
What mattered was the spontaneous out pouring of love shown by Sridevis fans and admirers
A little more sensitivity in your tweets would be welcome @DeShobhaa— Meera Bhat (@meerabhat) February 28, 2018
9. Just how?
How insensitive can you be?

Sridevi, being a Padma Shree awardee, received State Honours at the venue. A countless number of fans gathered and followed the truck she was carried in, from the club to the funeral ground in Vile Parle.
And yet, Shobhaa De decided to point out an absolutely meaningless ‘irony’ of the hour.
Brilliant, Shobhaa De.
