Ajay Devgn was slammed brutally online after he claimed that Hindi is our national language. Many pointed out that first, India doesn’t have a national language and second, to claim so is a direct attack on our country’s linguistic diversity.
After Ajay Devgn’s tweet sparked a massive debate about the imposition of Hindi, Sonu Sood reacted to the issue. He believes that India has only one language, and that is ‘entertainment’.

DNA quoted him saying:
“I don’t think Hindi can be called just the national language. India has one language, which is entertainment. It doesn’t really matter which industry you belong to. If you entertain people, they will love you, honour you and accept you. Only good cinema will be accepted.”
On the other hand, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma too reacted to the incident. He went on to claim that “north stars” are “jealous” of “south stars”.
The base undeniable ground truth @KicchaSudeep sir ,is that the north stars are insecure and jealous of the south stars because a Kannada dubbing film #KGF2 had a 50 crore opening day and we all are going to see the coming opening days of Hindi films

When ETimes reached out to him, RGV said that there is no “north” and “south” and that India is just “one”.
“I honestly think Kannada super star Sudeep has driven an incredible point when he said, what if he answers in Kannada to a Hindi tweet from Ajay Devgn, which should force everyone to realise that there’s no North and South and India is just one, which the North based Ajay doesn’t seem to understand and the South based Sudeep seems to, full on.”
Actor Ramya too responded to Ajay Devgn. Calling his alleged ignorance “baffling”, she tweeted:
No- Hindi is not our national language. @ajaydevgn Your ignorance is baffling. And it’s great that films like KGF Pushpa and RRR have done so well in the Hindi belt- art has no language barrier.
Please enjoy our films as much as we enjoy yours- #stopHindiImposition https://t.co/60F6AyFeW3— Divya Spandana/Ramya (@divyaspandana) April 27, 2022
