Being a celebrity might be the most glamorous job in the world but it comes with a dear price! A price that a public figure pays for the stardom, fan following and a cost that strips a star off every inch of private space an individual is entitled to.
I do not detest the fans and their adulation for their idols but it is the paparazzi culture that spoils it for us all in the business. It is that parade of invasive eyes that run mills on gossips and how!
But not anymore. It was time somebody took a stand and we are just glad it is none but Sonam Kapoor!
Let me take you through it…
If you have been even a little active on social media, you’d have comes across ‘news’ about Sonam Kapoor and her alleged-beau, Anand Ahuja. The latest shot in the dark being, that the diva is now engaged!
Are lovebirds @sonamakapoor and @anandahuja getting #Engaged? Friends & family say expect a rock on Sonam's finger by December! pic.twitter.com/8ErKqVkSfh

While the prospect of Sonam leading a happy personal life thrills us, the constant scrutiny and speculation are irksome! Who am I to say so? Would you believe if Sonam mouthed the same?
That’s right. The water has crossed the bridge and Sonam is not taking it lying down. In fact, she took to Twitter to school national dailies who are conjuring up stories about her personal life just to hit numbers!
1. “Get life losers!”
there's so much going on in this world but my so called personal life is what you want to cover.. #notengagedatall #getalifelosers https://t.co/ZhFBa00tsf

3. She also voiced pertinent and imperative questions that nobody dares to ask!
What's sad is that a women's worth is quantified through this shit.. why aren't male heroes asked this. https://t.co/FnoBLOQtCa

4. Oh, the irony!
What's scary is that most of these columnists are women. Not realising that a women's worth is not quantified by a ring on her finger. https://t.co/8tXxCsLDp3

I couldn’t agree more. And this isn’t Sonam’s plight alone, these tweets are the collective reflection of every woman in her prime who is hounded by questions like ‘when are you settling down?’ Of course, we have nothing against marriage but the growing disparity, even in liberal-minded professions (read: Bollywood) is alarming! Don’t you think?
