Sikh Man Wakes Up His Muslim Neighbors For Sehri During Ramzan In J&K, Video Goes Viral

It was just a few days ago that the news of a Vishnu Temple in Kerala, planning to host an iftar dinner for the people observing fast went viral. In a similar example of religious harmony, now we have the video of Sikh man trending on the internet. Wait up, we will tell you why.

In a video clip that is making rounds on social media, an elderly Sikh man can be seen waking up his Muslim neighbors in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district for Sehri – their pre-dawn Ramzan meal.

Reportedly, in his effort to wake up his Muslim friends, he shouts “Allah Rasool de pyaaro, jannat de talabgaro, utho roza rakho (The beloved of Allah and his messenger, the seekers of paradise, wake up to start your fast)” while playing the drums.

The heartwarming step by the individual was adored by the netizens as it exhibited the communal peace that has been prevalent in the state for ages.

The task of waking up the neighbors is usually taken up by Muslims in the locality but this is not the first time someone from a different community has stepped up. The term used for the drum beaters who do it is ‘Seharkhwaan’. The 21 sec video clip has been shared on social media platforms all over Kashmir.

Though this a small step towards religious co-existence, it is, without a doubt, a significant one. The world definitely needs more individuals like this Sikh man!
