These days, you can see kids, not more than 10 dancing to “Gaandi Baat” coming out of the loudspeaker at the pandal on the day of Saraswati Puja! So, you have kids, singing ABCD padli bohot, ab karenge Gaandi Baat (I have had enough of ABCD, now I’ll talk dirty), on a day ideally observed to worship the deity of academics! Don’t you find something really wrong with that?
That’s not the only way Bollywood messes with the minds of the mass. For years, it has been a trend to show women in Indian mainstream films as the non-consensual damsels who finally give in to a persistent men who just wouldn’t take no for an answer. Perhaps Indian films are inspired by the fragile ego of Indian men but it’s a two-way street and this obnoxious trend influences the youth no less.
It’s interesting to see Siddharth, being a part of the Indian mainstream cinema is not afraid of criticizing this utterly regressive, misleading and downright sickening trend!
When a woman stalks a man in our films she's a vamp. When a man does it he is a hero. It's a complicated discussion. But it needs to be had.

What the Rang De Basanti actor has pointed out is not trivial at all. Such social misconstructions lead to uglier consequences such as stalking, harassing and even acid attacks.
We've been selling a terrible dream in our films for long. That any man can get the woman he wants just by wanting her enough. Must change!

Good to see actors laying out a profound critique of Indian cinema and its effects on the mass without fearing backlash.
