Back in October, Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan was granted divorce from his wife Aesha Mukerji on the grounds of “mental cruelty” that she allegedly inflicted on him. Shikhar and Aesha have a son together called Zoravar who lives in Australia with his mother because he was born there. While they were married, Shikhar had to go without his family for long periods of time because he was living in India and despite Aesha’s assurance, she didn’t come to India to live with him.
After the divorce, Aesha continues to have custody of Zoravar. While a Delhi court has given Shikhar visitation rights, if he wants custody of his son, he has to contest in Australia – which is a difficult battle.

It was Zoravar’s birthday recently and Shikhar Dhawan took to Instagram to share a letter for him. Posting a screenshot of a video call of the father-son duo, he revealed that he hadn’t seen his son for a year and for almost three months, he had been blocked from everywhere.
“It’s been a year since I saw you in person, and now, for almost three months, I’ve been blocked from everywhere so posting the same picture to wish you, my boy, a very Happy Birthday.”
He went on to express how proud he was of Zoravar and said that he always misses him. He asked him to be humble, compassionate, patient and strong.
“Even if I can’t connect with you directly, I connect with you through Telepathy. I am so proud of you, and I know you’re doing great and growing up nicely. Papa always misses you and loves you. He’s always positive, waiting with a smile for the time when we will meet again by the Grace of God. Be naughty but not destructive, be a giver, be humble, compassionate, patient, and strong.”

He ended the note by saying that despite not being able to see him, he writes him messages every day asking about his well-being and daily life.
“Despite not seeing you, I write you messages almost every day, asking about your well-being and daily life, sharing what I’m doing and what’s new in my life.”
