India Shines Internationally As Shankar Mahadevan & Zakir Hussain Bag Grammy Awards

In case you didn’t know, the Grammy Awards is one of the most prestigious events in the world that celebrates musical excellence across borders and genres. It is a global platform that showcases and recognizes a diverse range of talents that makes the world of music as remarkable as it is. Celebrities like Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, SZA among others went home with Grammys today. Among them were people who made India proud.

Zakir Hussain and Shankar Mahadevan are the two Indians who brought home Grammy Awards. Shankar Mahadevan’s band Shakti won the Global Music Album category for ‘This Moment’.

On the other hand, Zakir Hussain won the award under the Best Global Music Performance category for his contribution to ‘Pashto’.

The album ‘This Moment’ was released by Shakti on June 30 last year and features eight songs created by John McLaughlin (guitar synth), Zakir Hussain (tabla), Shankar Mahadevan (vocalist), V Selvaganesh (percussionist), and Ganesh Rajagopalan (violinist), reported Hindustan Times.

“Thank you boys. Thank you God, family, friends, and India. India, we are proud of you…Last but not the least, I would like to dedicate this award to my wife whom every note of my music is dedicated to,” said Shankar Mahadevan in his acceptance speech.
