If you jog your memory to a couple of weeks ago, Shobha De made the controversial tweet about our Olympic athletes, accusing them of just going to Rio and taking selfies, and not bringing any medals home.
She faced a brutal backlash from all fronts and rightly so. Olympics is ultra-competitive, and India does not really have cutting-edge training facilities.
Still, our athletes give their best, and if you see their actual matches, the passion is visible on their faces as they compete.
The parody account had the perfect tweet to shut the haters in under 140 characters –
#SakshiMalik ke gale me medal kitna "Sobha De" raha hai na !!! #HappyRakshaBandhan pic.twitter.com/5qnN0tbD4y

Then the original verified Virendra Sehwag retweeted it in appreciation!
Bilkul , isliye Shobha Na De aise kaam nahi karne chahiye https://t.co/LDyEPGRQI1

He was appreciated on all fronts, with even Amitabh Bachchan singing his praises and appreciating his humor
hahaha .. Viru ji .. aapka sense of humour ne ek aur sixer maar diya Stadium ke bahar !! https://t.co/gsmFV4dPb6

Our athletes are not at fault. Their dedication and perseverance are what has gotten them at the highest levels of sports. But because of the systemic failure of sports as a whole in our country, the frustration comes out at them. Which is not right!
Kudos to Viru for standing up for our real heroes!
