Teacher Lets Her 8 YO Students Draw On Her White Dress, Becomes An Instant Internet Celebrity!

It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge. ~Albert Einstein

Doodling and art work is one of the greatest joys of being a kid. I remember I would sit for hours with my crayons and a coulouring book and just let my imagination get the better of me. Sometimes though I would take the phrase ‘the world is my canvas’ a little too literally. I would draw on walls, my clothes and even furniture, of course I would always get the yelling of my life. Little did I know that this would actually be accepted a few years down the line.

Haley Curfman, a teacher didn’t think it was a bad idea to give a dress, markers and paint to her class of 8-year-olds. She brought a white dress and encouraged her students to draw on it, with one condition- no one was allowed to cross anything out.

Well, mostly adults take the traditional route and don’t allow kids to doodle on clothes. But then again, Hayley isn’t most adults. She is from Oklahoma in the United States and allows is currently teaching second grade students.

It’s the second year in a row that she has done this project with her students after she saw a similar idea on Pintrest. She sets up a station with the dress and stationary to draw and it can take from 2 weeks to a month to complete.

The kids work on their project only when time permits and between other class activities.

She shared a Facebook post about the undertaking of this creative work and says that she bought it off a website for $20.

Hayley’s first dress didn’t get too much attention online but this one has gone completely viral. Netizens are lauding her out of the box teaching. And many other teachers are even sharing similar projects they undertook with their pupils.

Her post has now got 244k likes on Facebook and 345,163 shares.

She told the kids to write and draw whatever makes them happy and that resulted into the most adorable piece of artwork.

She basically does this to keep a memento from her kids. Talking to Today about the project she said, “It’s a great project, and an even better keepsake. I hope to do one every year. Facebook users have suggested I wear them at the students’ graduation one day, and I think that’s a great idea!”

Great idea right? I for one, would love to have to have a teacher like her growing up!
