While the world awaits the release of superhero flicks or ones that will make it to the Oscars, or any other genre they love, some hearts vie for a tale dipped in romanticism, fuelling hope to love. And, 2018 is full of romantic movies that fan the hopes in the hopeless romantic, that we are. Have a look!

1. Forever My Girl

The film’s titles spells romance and such lovely promise and one look at the trailer, we were hooked. Starring Alex Roe and Jessica Rothe, the film brings Southern (American) music back in vogue.

2. Fifty Shades Freed

Release date: February 9, 2018

Oh, don’t eye-roll there. It is romantic, ok, tho agreed in its own twisted BDSM way. Ana loves Christian, Christian loves Ana and they live happily ever after. So, yeah this Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson one counts as a romantic movie to me.

3. Permission

Release date: 2018

Can you imagine spending your life with just the one? And, is it enough? A couple who has just been with only each other, right before marriage, give the other one the permission to test date. They do it to see if they are ready to settle down or not. The Beast aka Dan Stevens and Rebecca Hall film looks like a refreshing take on modern-day relationships.

4. Every Day

Release date: February 23, 2018

What if in your teens you fell in love with a spirit who woke up in a new body every day? This is 16-year-old Rhiannon’s (played by Angourie Rice) love tale with a spirit named A. Interesting, right?

5. Love, Simon

Release date: March 16, 2018

Directed by Greg Berlanti, this one’s based on the novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. It’s the tale of a 17-year-old closeted gay who balances friends, family, pen pal and a guy who threatens to reveal, to the world, his sexuality. Welcome to the teen life!

6. Midnight Sun

Release date: March 23, 2018

Starring Bella Thorne and Patrick Schwarzenegger, the tale of a girl suffering from a rare pigmentation disorder that hinders her from stepping in the sun. She sleeps during the day and steps out only after sun-down. But, how does that stop two souls from falling in love with each other.

7. Overboard

Release date: April 20, 2018

The Anna Faris, Eva Longoria, John Hannah and Josh Segarra starrer is the official remake of 1987 film of the same name. Though more on lines of a rom-com, this promises lovely moments and we can’t wait.

8. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again

Release date: July 20, 2018

Ok, being downright honest, this is the one I’m waiting for the most. Like, who doesn’t wanna know Donna’s (Meryl Streep’s) story? We’re going back in time and when the trailer dropped, exclaiming ‘Mamma mia’ was the natural response. *winks*

9. A Star is Born

Release Date: October 5, 2018

The Bradley Cooper directorial has a stellar cast with Cooper, Lady Gaga, Sam Elliott, Andrew Dice Clay, and Dave Chappelle. Rumours are rife that it is a story inspired by Kurt Cobain’s life. High on music, this is said to be a romantic drama.

10. Crazy Rich Asians

Release date: August 17, 2018

Based on the novel of the same name by Kevin Kwan, the film will see Constance Wu as Rachel Chu and Henry Golding as Nick Young. It is directed by Jon M. Chu and is a story that has our interests piqued.

11. Destination Wedding

Release date: 2018

The Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder starrer is as the name suggests based around a destination wedding. How they meet and are drawn to each other is too be seen. The film’s release has been pushing, let’s see when we get to see it.

12. Entanglement

Release date: February 9, 2018

The Jason James directorial is on a complicated subject where a man accidently falls in love with a girl who was almost his adoptive sister. Umm, that complicated. Sounds quirky, though.  It stars Thomas Middleditch, Jess Weixler, and Johannah Newmarch.

Apart from these lovelies, there are many dramedies, romantic dramas and comedies, releasing in 2018. Eyes are peeled out, people!
