RJ Naved Calls Up Criminal Lawyer To Ask About Rape Laws, Questions Move Him To Tears

RJ Naved has always been vocal about his opinions about rape, sexual harassment, abuse, girl child abortions and the rape culture of India. His monologue on aborting a fictional girl child became viral and drew our attention to the more serious issues plaguing our country and its people.

In another audio clip, RJ Naved has a criminal lawyer on call and asks him questions about laws against rape in India.

The clip instantly became viral and choked us because it wasn’t just Naved talking to the lawyer. There were young girls, with little ability to speak, asking questions on how to save themselves, speak up and recognise rape.

The first little girl asked him how can a young child who can barely speak or understand tell his/her parents if something bad happens to them. Another girl asked the lawyer how does a rapist look. Do we really have an answer to that? I guess not.

The last one, that hurt me the most, was a question of what kind of clothes should the girl wear that everyone is pleased and so she avoids getting raped.

The lawyer himself teared up and found it difficult to answer all their innocent but pain-laden questions. He had no words for them and if it were you in his place, I’m sure you wouldn’t either.

People reacted to this audio and the reaction is just what you and I are feeling after hearing it. Pain, empathy and fear.

1. Death would be too quick and too sweet.

2. We can never forget the monsters humans can be, but yes, instant punishment is the need of the hour.

3. Words speak to you louder sometimes.

4. I’m not a mother yet. But if I were you, I’d be scared too.

5. How do we become humans when humanity is what we have lost?

A lot of upheavals were caused owing to the painful Unnao rape case and the brutality shown towards the little girl in Kathua. People came together in masses to protest this monstrosity and demand severe punishment for the rapists.

But this conversation hit the right chords and raised some painful questions. Hopefully the next time, we’ll have answers to these and not just silent tears.
