Debate competitions in school used to be really stressful. A team had to prepare a super strong argument either for or against the topic. They also had to brace themselves for the barrage of counter questions from the opposing team. But Twitter debates are something else entirely. They get pretty heated up for sure, but they’re always entertaining AF to read. Like the one on how to wear a bra or the right way to eat chicken nuggets.
Today’s topic though is how to swallow bitter pills correctly? Most of us use the pop bottle method but are there more strategies and techniques? Apparently, there are.
This is the tweet that started it all. @sheikhimaan revealed that she pops in pills after filling her mouth with water. Take a look.
I need to kno if other ppl also fill their mouth w/ water 1st & then drop their pill in & swallow?? Bc most of you are out here just putting bitter ass pills directly on ur BARE TONGUE & casually waiting till u fill ur glass w/ water. But I get made fun of for doing the dive-in??

My mom spoiled me so much she would literally sugarcoat pills for me. Like melt sugar into caramel in a spoon and coat the pill. This made the pill bigger lmaooo but at least no gross bitterness.

The highly ‘debatable’ post went viral instantly and invited a long stream of responses. While some netizens admitted that they have been there and done that, others were shocked and bemused at the ‘unusual’ method to take medicine. Here is what “Team pill first” had to say.
Nooooo…By putting water first there's a chance that stupid pill will float anywhere else in the mouth from where it'll be difficult to swallow.
(So much thoughts and efforts)

You keep the pill UNDER the tongue. No taste buds. No bitterness.

There is an area on your tongue which can't taste bitterness. You put the pill there and then swallow with water.

I hold it with my teeth (no taste receptors there) while I fill the glass of water.

Here’s my technique (there are cons to this as well).. swallow the saliva and keep tounge completely dry.. with water ready, “place” the pill as far back as you can without dragging it and quickly drink water..

“Team water first” had some really good comebacks as well. There really isn’t anything worse than the bitter aftertaste of medicine on one’s tongue.

Omg yes!!!!!!! Everyone always acts like this is wack and I can't understand why they'd want to TASTE that bitter shit.

People exposing their naked tongue to a naked pill are spawn of the devil.
Don't @ me.

Water first, always! I learned swallowing pills quite late in life. I would powder it and stir in a spoon and put it directly deep in my throat. Its only after capsuls came in picture that had to learn it. But can never imagine those tiny devils touching my tongue

People who keep the pill in the mouth and do 100 tasks before filling up the glass and drinking it like it's no big deal are psychopaths. They fear nothing. They will stop at nothing. Run!

Surprisingly, the argument also threw up some unexpected responses. Who are these people and where do they come from? 😛
I do that as a power move

Do you also have a tried-and-tested method of swallowing foul tasting medicine? We’d love to know.
