While my father was a working individual, there wasn’t a single day where he didn’t complain about going to office. He kept on mentioning that from the time he retired, he wasn’t going to do a single piece of work. Cut to now, when he has actually retired, he gets restless when there isn’t much for him to do. And that made me realize that humans have this irreplaceable need to have a certain purpose, a certain motive in life. And a group of retired uncles from Bengaluru have found their purpose.
According to Indian Express, retired uncles in Bengaluru are actively engaged in replanting trees in the city to maintain its greenery. A video was shared by Biocon chief Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw in which we hear the uncles talk in Kannada about their initiative. Have a look:
What wonderful citizens we have in Namma Bengaluru! I really salute them for their green Bengaluru initiative 👏👏👏 pic.twitter.com/emIOwGff4T

Several people online lauded this noble initiative and hoped for other people to get inspired by this as well. Here’s how some of them reacted:
Respect the elderly people who are thinking of the future of kids and they know they might not sit under the shade of that tree they are planting but it will surely help someone for sure.
The love for Bengaluru is left in very few , in most of the activities we have seen its led…

Every tree we plant is a heartfelt embrace to Mother Earth, a legacy of breath for future generations. Trees are the earth’s endless effort to speak to the listening sky. Let’s listen back, one tree at a time. Their roots hold our world together.

👏👍
On the other hand there are citizens chopping tees to park their vehicles on the road
When will the govt introduce a law to make parking space mandatory for ownership of vehicles
At least start auditing buildings for adequate parking & clearing basements
Get 🌳 back

Wish this group is honoured by govt on 1st Nov . Many citizens do many such welfare programs silently and we need to motivate them so that “unwritten agreement of public welfare “ spreads across state . 🙏🙏🙏@osd_cmkarnataka
