Legendary Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni ranks among the finest cricketers in world cricket history. The iconic skipper who can boast of winning all the three major ICC trophies is also hailed as one of the deadliest finishers of the game.
However, Dhoni’s style of batting is more unorthodox than copybook and has inspired millions across the globe. Take for example his trademark ‘helicopter shot’, which had the ability to scoop out inch-perfect yorkers for monster sixes.
It is to be noted that the remarkable wicketkeeper-batsman not only influences his fans but his fellow cricketers too! And one of the many who haveĀ been following Mahi’s footsteps is Afghan prodigy, Rashid Khan.
Playing in a match between the Durban Heat and Tshwane Spartans in the Mzansi Super League (MSL), the talented leg-spinner replicated Dhoni’s ‘helicopter shot’.
Chasing a hefty total of 188 runs, Rashid, who plays for the Heats, came out to bat in the 17th over. The 20-year-old had his intentions clear from the very beginning, with the scoreboard demanding 50 runs from just 23 deliveries.
In a bid to keep his team in the act, Rashid hammered a towering six off Lutho Sipamla in the very first delivery he faced. And guess what? We saw the return of the ‘helicopter’.
