TOI Uses Randeep Hooda’s Pic While Reporting About Serial Killer Charles Sobhraj’s Release

When an actor gets into the shoes of a character, he ensures that he gets completely engrossed in it, copying every minute detail like a chameleon. And with an efficient makeup and costume team, looking like someone these days is not tough at all.

Back in 2015, Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda played the role of the wanted Indian-origin French serial killer Charles Sobhraj in the movie ‘Main aur Charles’.

Hooda nailed the look and body language of Charles AKA ‘The Bikini Killer’ in the movie. And it was so seamless and on-point that a leading Indian newspaper got confused with the reel and real Charles Sobhraj and published Hooda’s picture from the movie instead of that of the OG serial killer.

The Supreme Court of Nepal recently ordered the release of serial killer Charles Sobhraj who has been in jail since 2003 on murder charges. The court claimed he was in jail for more than his sentence tenure.

To disseminate this news, TOI used the screengrab of Hooda from the 2015 film.

This got the attention of the actor himself who was confused if this was a backhanded compliment for him or if the publication legit made this blunder.

So, he took to Twitter to bring this issue to everyone’s notice. He wrote:

“Is that a back handed compliment @timesofindia or did you genuinely get confused between the “real” and “reel” Charles Sobhraj?”

People online had a good laugh on knowing about this mistake. Some even said that they are not at fault as Hooda very impressively transformed himself into the character.

This is hilarious but I won’t blame them. You did an amazing job of getting into the character.
