Over the years, fashion has been used on numerous occasions to make statements. At the New York Fashion Week 2018, designer Prabal Gurung had models make the final walk on the ramp holding white roses, in solidarity with the #MeToo movement. Several designers like Vivienne Westwood, Chanel, Gaultier, Mc Queen, and used their work and the ramp to express their political or moral views.
Day 1 of Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018 saw designer Sohaya Misra of ‘Chola The Label’ make quite the statement. Her show celebrated drag culture and queer pride with her collection, ‘Bye Felicia’!
And walking the ramp for the brand, in full drag queen glory, was none other than Prateik Babbar!
Whoaaaaa!
Prateik Babbar and makeup artist Jason Arland walked the ramp together for a show that celebrated drag culture.
Prateik, dressed in skirt pants and a cape, and sporting lipstick on the feminine half of his face, made quite the bold statement! And Arland in that frilly tiered pink dress with stiletto boots perfectly matched up to the quirk quotient!
Now a statement on the LGBTQ community or gender isn’t a path-breaking concept on the ramp; it has been explored by many designers before.
However, the sheer larger-than-life drama that Pratiek Babbar brought on the ramp with his act just has to be one of a kind! It is definitely bound to blow you away!
You see that? He’s got those mannerisms and gestures right, he’s absolutely looking the part, and he is nailing that drag queen attitude LIKE A BOSS!
What’s more, even off the ramp, minus the makeup and clothes, Prateik managed to be cool and comfy in his half-shaven avatar as he posed for a picture with fiancée Sanya Sagar!
Can I just say, we’re totally loving this man who isn’t afraid to pull such a bold statement off with so much elan!
