It gave us an insight into India’s elites and the sheer extravagance with which they live their lives. It painted a perfect picture of a happily ever after. However, not many of them turned out to be true.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, Pradhyuman Maloo who featured mainly in Indian Matchmaking season 1 and also a bit in season 2, has been accused of domestic violence by his wife Ashima Chauhaan.

In season 1 of the show, Pradhyuman Maloo grabbed several eyeballs after he alleged that he rejected 150 matches by the matchmaker Seema Taparia. He had tremendously high expectations from the girl he was about to marry. While he didn’t find love in the first season of the show, he ended up finding a ‘perfect partner’ for himself off-screen, in real life. It was Ashima Chauhaan, an actor and model.

The second season of ‘Indian Matchmaking’ showed their wedding ceremony which was a grand affair in Udaipur in February 2022. However, in September 2022, Ashima Chauhaan allegedly filed an FIR where she accused her husband of physical and emotional abuse followed by blackmailing and harassment from her in-laws.

“The allegations with FIR lodged are grave and concerning with domestic violence and constant mental, and physical abuse at its core. The matter is in the investigative stage and should be carried in full swing. Ashima is in the process of taking appropriate legal proceedings against the accused in accordance with the law,” said Chauhaan’s lawyer.

When Hindustan Times reached out to Pradhyuman for a statement, he said, “I don’t know about it. To the best of my knowledge, we are in settlement talks with lawyers to resolve our marital issues amicably.”
