The recent United Airlines incident has left us all wondering what have people come down to? An Asian doctor was dragged from a United Airline flight because it was overbooked and the news made me shudder.
But, while there are gruesome incidents happening, there are some good ones too! And this story of Etihad airlines will make believe that humanity still has hope.
A pilot of an Etihad airline turned around a plane in Manchester when an old couple who was travelling to Australia told the crew that their grandson was admitted in the ICU and that they needed to see him immediately. The couple’s travel agent Becky Stephenson said,
“They were taxiing on the runway when they got the text message saying their grandson was in intensive care and they needed to get there.
They passed the message to the crew, who spoke to the captain and he turned the plane back.”
After turning the plane around, the crew helped the old couple get their bags and assisted them to their car as well. They did everything in their capacity to make sure that the couple reached the hospital. Unfortunately, their grandson passed away the following day but at least, they got to say their last goodbye.
Mrs. Stephenson said that the couple was thankful to the pilot and the crew for giving them the chance to see their grandson for the last time. She says,
Mrs. Stephenson has left a heartfelt message for Etihad airlines on a facebook group thanking the crew for their kind gesture.
The airlines have also allowed the couple to use their tickets for a future trip to Australia.
Such news makes me believe in the goodness of human race all over again. Let’s hope that we get to hear such kind stories more often.
