10 Traits Of An Office Bit*h And How To Handle Her

You cannot escape her. Wherever you go, there will always be that one person who will annoy you so much, that you’ll feel like putting your fingers through her eyes into her brain and swirl it around. I’m not stereotyping a particular gender and saying that all boys are ‘Gautam Buddha’, but I specifically want to discuss girls in this article.

So, here are some classic traits of an office bitch, and how to handle her with finesse.

1. She will disagree with EVERYTHING you say.

You will think you are being paranoid, but you are not. They make it a point to contradict everything you are saying. So, if you are feeling good and say “Oh, what a beautiful day,” she’ll go like, “Actually, it’s not that beautiful. I would rather call it a nonchalant day.” I mean, seriously?

How to handle

Ignorance is bliss when it comes to that. Just pretend she’s not there. Let her blabber. Don’t give two flying ….

2. She’ll be the sweetest person on earth when she needs your help.

So till now she was too cocky to talk to you, but suddenly her internet broke down and she needs to come to your place and use Wifi, so you become her best friend. She’ll say ‘I really owe you for this’; but believe me, you ain’t getting anything. -_-

How to handle

Say no. Be polite, but say no.

3. Most of her sentences start with, ‘Don’t take offence but…’

Insulting people is their favourite hobby. So most of the people or things they see will either be tacky, creepy, outdated or depressing. She won’t like what you are wearing, what you are listening to, what you are looking at on your screen, absolutely anything.

How to handle

Don’t fight fire with fire. Responding to such barbs validates them. Don’t say anything which will bring you down to her level.

4. She will gossip all the time. All the FREAKING time.

They’ll speak ill of the person as soon as anyone leaves the table. And when that person comes back, and someone else leaves, they’ll speak ill of them too. It’s their way of grabbing attention. And the sadistic pleasure of criticising others is also there.

How to handle

Stay away. It’s a vicious circle. Don’t get into office gossips at all. If you say something, it will come back and bite you in the ass.

5. She will want to know what you are doing, buying, whom you are talking to; basically everything about you.

Prying is her second favourite hobby (after insulting others). So, if you stepped outside with a co-worker to discuss something, she will want to know everything about it. It’s seriously annoying.

How to handle.

Speak up, but don’t shout. Tell her that it’s none of her business. If it doesn’t work out, you can talk about this issue to higher authorities.

6. She is her favourite

She can do no wrong. She will know her job better than anyone else. she will know your job better than anyone else. She’ll know everyone’s job better than anyone else. Yup, it’s seriously annoying. The only time she speaks well about someone is herself.

How to handle

Don’t answer with your words, but answer with your work. That will shut her up.

7. She will always be ahead in pointing out your tiniest mistakes

Yup! From getting late by 5 minutes to taking long lunch breaks, she’ll make sure that she points out every mistake you do, that too in front of your co-workers or boss.

How to handle

Kill her with kindness. She will try to pinpoint every little thing. All you have to do is say sorry and walk out of her way (or not say anything at all). If you try to argue, it may backfire.

8. She won’t like it if you become close to another co-worker.

As soon as she notices that there is a substantial friendship in the making, she’ll get restless. She might try to break things off between you two, so be careful.

How to handle

DO NOT trust her. If she says anything about your friends, go talk straight to them instead.

9. She will try her best to take credit for your work.

Yup, that happens a lot. If you are in a group project, she will always want to present and talk to the boss directly about it without keeping you in the loop.

How to handle.

Try your best to not discuss or share your work with her.

10. She’ll get anxious if you start performing well.

She will ask you two thousand questions which will question your potential. She will start bitching about you to other co-workers. She will sit and wait for you to slip so that she can pull you down.

How to handle

Do not let anything she says or does affect your performance. Don’t doubt yourself. Let her crib and sulk. Your job is to focus on work and outdo yourself.

Hope these were helpful. 😉
Until next time…
