Neighbours as a concept have been romanticised by religious scriptures, and most movies and TV shows. They’re portrayed as the personification of cotton candy who will jump to help you whenever you need them. But the reality is often very different.
If you’re new to the neighbourhood, they’ll try to know your backstory and find loopholes in it. They’ll look for every and any opportunity to invade your privacy. And then they’ll talk behind your back. However, one man found a remedy to shut his neighbour down.
According to Fox19, Jason Windus was facing a lot of flak from his neighbour for not adhering to the fence-making rules in Santa Rosa, California. He said,
“It’s very serious. It made me freak out. They were going to fine me every day it wasn’t taken down. Something like $500 a day. This is America, we are supposed to have fences in our yards to have privacy.”
Windus had built the fence to keep his dogs in the yard. But apparently, his neighbour felt that it was too high for the corner and was causing them “visibility issues”.
So, he decided to call his friend, who had a big saw, and cut off the top off the fence and kept it at 36 inches high. In addition to that, he held a naked mannequin party for his neighbour. Windus said,
“I couldn’t bring myself to throw them away. I was going to use them for target practice. guess the average person would have resentment and got angry, and I threw a naked party in my yard.”
He added:
“They want me to tear my fence down so they can see what’s inside my yard. Now they get to.”
Nosey neighbours are worse than pests because exterminators can’t deal with them (because of human rights and stuff). And anger isn’t always the correct answer. So, take Windus’ example, be calm and give them a dose of their own medicine.
