Sorry.
This word easily passes through our lips without us really understanding the escape of it and it’s consequences. It’s one of the easiest words to say and pops out of us so many times, even when it’s not necessary. And amazingly, we fail at knowing when and where to stop saying sorry. Then it becomes a habit, difficult to get rid of. And then it becomes a problem.
Here are a few things that we all need to realize that we are not required to be apologetic for even when sometimes we feel like we should.
1. Saying NO. Your disagreement doesn’t need to be accompanied by a sorry for it to sound respectful.
Sometimes, respectful does not work. You need not apologize for voicing it out strongly.
2. Asking questions about what you don’t know answers to. There’s nothing to be apologetic about it.
3. Dancing crazy. There’s nothing to be sorry about how the rhythm talks to you.
4. Your past. It has nothing to do with your present except making you the person you’re now – better and wiser.
5. Following your dreams. Just because you chose something that you are good at, doesn’t mean that you don’t put in as much hard work in it as others do in whatever they do.
Not being the part of the rat race isn’t something you should feel guilty about.
6. For the mistakes others make. They are responsible for their actions, not you.
7. Cutting off the rock to your balloon. Don’t feel guilty for letting go of people who always weigh you down.
8. Spoiling yourself a bit. What is wrong with treating yourself to something nice once in a while? Celebrating yourself is nothing to be sorry for.
9. Hurting someone if they’ve hurt you first. Their words hurt, and they should know how exactly.
10. Putting yourself first. Nothing to be shameful of.
11. Wanting to be alone. Don’t feel guilty for not wanting to tag someone along with you all the time.
12. Being yourself. So what if you’re a little weird? Enjoy it, instead of being ashamed of it. Embrace yourself.
13. Laughing your weird little laugh. That’s the best thing about you, realize that. 🙂
14. Your tears. Do you really need a reason for justifying your tears?
15. For your preferences. You have the right to be a certain way, and to like certain things in your life to be. Don’t apologize to those who judge you.
16. Defending yourself. Never in an apologetic tone. Ever.
Guilt comes out of doubt. Do not doubt yourself.
Love yourself. You are totally worth it. 🙂
