“These Award Functions Should Shut Down,” Exclaims Nawazuddin After Tweeting About Om Puri

The 2017 Oscars, before it decided to go down in history as the most dramatic award show, was cheered, especially in India because of its tribute and homage to the legendary Bollywood actor, Om Puri for his contribution to world cinema.

While many names from B-town took the moment to applaud the Annual Awards, Nawazuddin Siddiqui came out and condemned the award shows, this side of the globe, for not paying respects to one of its own. If you’re not in the know, he tweeted,

Needless to the say the tweet got a lot of momentum.

 

Recently, in an interview with Hindustan Times, Nawazuddin has explained his views and intention behind the same. 

 “After Omji’s death, whichever award function happened, his name wasn’t even mentioned.

As an actor, you feel bad because he was a legend, who made a huge contribution to not only Indian but also world cinema. As they say, ‘two words’ could have been spoken about him as a tribute.”

 

Not just that, the ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ actor has put his foot down and proposed that serious actors should shun such events, in fact, they should just ‘shut down’.

 

Seems like after Aamir, Kangana and Amaal Malik, Nawazuddin has also joined the ranks of people who think award shows have lost their credibility and seriousness.
