Today, as we commemorate yet another beautiful festival that celebrates a bond between a brother and sister, we bring to you this lesser known tale of a sister from Pakistan who has been tying Rakhi to her brother in India since the last 22 years!
Want to know who that lucky brother is? *Hold your breath* That blessed man is none other than our very own Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
Meet Qamar Shaikh, a Pakistani-origin woman who says that she’s been tying Rakhi to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for more than two decades now.

Qamar Mohsin shifted to India from Pakistan right after she got married and has been settled in Ahmedabad since then. She says that she felt very lonely when she came to India as her whole family was back there.
She first met Modji when he was a karyakarta. As Qamar’s husband is a painter, they would often go to Delhi. Once, they met Modiji because he had some work with her husband who would make incredible paintings on important topics.
“I have been tying rakhi to Narendra bhai (PM Modi) for the last 22-23 years, excited to do it this time too. When I first tied rakhi to Narendra bhai, he was a karyakarta but with his sheer hardwork and vision he has become the Prime Minister of India.”
She also recalled how she used to love Modiji patting her back and asking, “Kaisi Ho Behen” to her! Speaking about the first time she tied Rakhi to Narendra Bhai, Qamar said,
“It was the auspicious day of ‘Raksha Bandhan,’ several years ago when I approached him with Rakhi and he gladly put his hand forward and accepted it.”
Qamar was a bit skeptical if she would get to tie Rakhi to him, given that India’s PM’s schedule must be very, very busy. But known for maintaining his relations well, PM Modi called up Qamar only 2 days ago and asked her to be ready with Rakhi.
