Mumbai Police Bans Drones After Terror Attack Possibility Ahead Of Independence Day

Even after 6 years, the unfortunate 26/11 Mumbai terror attack is still fresh in the minds of each and everyone in India.

Ahead of the country’s Independence Day, fearing terror attacks that could involve para-gliders, remote controlled micro-light aircraft or drones, the Mumbai police issued an order banning drones and Unmanned Aerial Devices (UAV) under CrPC sec 144 in Mumbai.

So, Mumbai Police has put a ban on the use of drones in the city, between July 4 and August 2, just a few weeks before 15th August. The ban will be in effect for a month and appropriate actions will be taken against anyone who violates the order.

The move was made after an unidentified drone was spotted flying above the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) complex and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in Trombay, a northeastern suburb in Mumbai. The famous Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, which includes advanced nuclear labs, has been on a terror hit list for years.

After the man accused of masterminding the 26/11 terror attack, Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, walked free from a Pakistani jail, intelligence agencies had issued an alert of a possible terrorist attack in Mumbai.

We should never allow such an attack to happen again. Never.
