Mumbai Girl Creates Fake Profiles To Harass Ex-Boyfriend’s Sisters, Gets Arrested

Normally a story like this would begin with something on the lines of ‘Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned’. But considering what this Mumbai girl’s misguided actions have resulted in, something on the lines of ‘A person who desires revenge should dig two graves’ feels more apt here.

A 22-year-old girl from Mumbai’s Goregaon area was arrested by the police for using social media trolling to harass the family of her ex-boyfriend.

Aarti Jadhav, a resident of Santosh Nagar, Goregaon, is a commerce graduate who was arrested for creating fake profiles of her former lover’s sisters on Facebook and defaming her to seek revenge.

The incident came to light when the ex-boyfriend’s sister, a resident of Vile Parle, Mumbai, approached the local police on June 23 with complaints about four fake profiles that had been created in her name.

The profiles on Facebook were used to share her contact details and post her sister’s picture and some obscene content on it. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Detection, Nisar Tamboli revealed to DNA,

“As per the complainant, through those bogus profiles, friend requests were sent to her friends and relatives. Because of this, the victim claimed she had been receiving several calls from unknown numbers leading to her mental harassment.”

The police began tracking he IP address used to create the  fake profiles between May 6 and June 9, which led them to Jadhav.

The police discovered that Jadhav was in a relationship with the victim’s brother for eight years before he broke up with her, twice. However, his recent marriage to another girl may have prompted her to seek revenge on him, through his sisters.

Jadhav’s arrest serves as a stark reminder that social media trolling with revenge as a motive never ends well for the perpetrator.

In fact, this Mumbai girl’s revenge plan isn’t the only one that got busted. A self-styled godman from Delhi too met with a similar fate when he tried to harass a female devotee over the phone.

The baba, one Ravi Gir ji Maharaj, was approached by the victim’s parents to help with finding a groom for their daughter’s marriage.

However, the self-style baba began visiting the victim’s house and allegedly making unwanted overtures. When the victim objected, he began sending her inappropriate messages over the phone.

A complaint against the godman was registered at the Hauz Khas police station under Section 354D (stalking), 509 (outraging a woman’s modesty), 506 (criminal intimidation), and Section 67 of the IT Act.

The perp was finally arrested from his ashram.

Cases of cyber harassment and using social media trolling as an instrument for revenge has been on the rise for quite while now. No one is spared, not even politicians or celebrities.

However, the perps who believe that this is a perfect crime that they can get away with should do better to know that there are several ways that they can be caught. And the police are definitely cracking down on such crimes with a hard whip.
