The Chief Financial Officer of a Mumbai-based company named Mitshi India Ltd. handed his resignation to the Managing Director of the company on November 15, 2023. You would think that the resignation letter would be a well-written email. But no. The CFO, Rinku Patel, decided to submit a handwritten note instead!
The page seems to have been torn from a notebook and on it, with very neat handwriting, is written, “I hereby inform you that I will be resigning from the job of CFO with immediate effect due to my personal reasons.”
Here’s a look at the full letter:
The company is listed with BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) and this letter, along with other formal documents, was sent to BSE as a part of the disclosure. You can catch a glimpse of it here.
What’s truly mindblowing is that, after a picture of the resignation letter went viral, Mitshi India’s share rose by 3%. The company produces paints and also manufactures paper, plastics, hardware and metal products, as well as wholesale fruits and vegetables. It has a market cap of Rs 20.22 crore, reported Hindustan Times.

Several people online found this incident hilarious and thought maybe the CFO made his kid write the letter on his behalf! Here’s how some of them responded:
this CFO seems to have borrowed a page from his kid's rough note book and have written resignation letter in that and uploaded in BSE. Listed companies in India 😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/QOr73CR7U8

See, the handwriting is decent. The chap actually wrote it out. Is a simple, genuine fellow. Didn’t copy paste copious high-sounding stuff from the net. Only thing is the paper could be a bonded one for impact.
