Milind Soman’s Wise Words On How We Perceive Women Will Make You Think Differently!

Milind Soman.

Could you love this man more than you already do? I say you can.

The “Ironman” marathoner, Milind Soman was in Jaipur recently to encourage the city’s women to take up exercising and run for Pinkathon, Milind’s initiative which is said to be India’s largest women marathon.

Milind Soman made it clear why this school of thought, of doubting a woman’s capacity to understand technology, is so prevalent in men and sadly, in women too.

“We as a society are constantly telling women that they don’t know this or don’t understand that. We are fuelling this myth at every level that men are smarter than women not just in India, but globally.”

Speaking about the women athletes of India, he couldn’t have sounded more proud, almost like a father.

“I feel that the reason why their (Sakshi and Sindhu) victory was so ardently celebrated was that people are well aware of the situation in our country , and they wanted to say , `Women are told they are second-class citizens, but they saved our izzat in Rio Olympics.'”

The wage gap is real, and not only in sports or the entertainment industry, it’s everywhere. In India and in the world.

“If Venus and Serena Williams are fighting for equal pay at tennis championships, what can we say about Bollywood? It’s the same everywhere and we must continue to fight.”

The term ‘Superstar’ and ‘Supermodel’ is passe and when Milind Soman says it, you have to believe it’s true.

“Today, there are no supermodels. Forget supermodels, there are no superstars. After Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan there are no superstars. Yes, there are actors like Ranveer Singh, Sidharth Malhotra and others very everyday kind of heroes playing ordinary roles. Honestly, today nobody wants a superstar anymore.”

Everyone can do anything they want. Especially, women.
