Mumbai Man Throws Acid At Woman To Teach Her A Lesson For ‘Staring’ At Him Angrily

Incidents of acid attack on women have unfortunately become so common that people do not bat an eyelid at the tragedy anymore, nor do they think twice before committing the heinous crime themselves.

In a shocking incident in Dahisar, in Mumbai, a man threw acid at a 24-year-old woman in an attempt to teach her a lesson. The man, Hemant Devkule, lived in the same neighbourhood as the woman and claimed to commit the crime because the woman ‘always stared at him with anger and hatred.’

The incident occurred near a public lavatory in Ram Nagar, when the accused walked up to the woman making her way to the lavatory, and threw a toilet cleaner on her which caused a burning sensation on her back and lips.

A police official told Times of India,

“Hearing the woman scream, locals rushed to her rescue and poured water on the burns. She was later taken to Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital in Kandivli where she was treated.”

The accused was arrested the same day and has been remanded by a court till August 28. The man is unemployed and lives alone, while his mother and sister live at their native place.

Acid attacks have taken the form of a trivial issue, which has escalated the crime even further. Culprits do not stop to reflect even for a minute on how their actions can ruin a person’s life.
