Man Spends ₹10 Cr Developing His Gaming Character, Friend Sells It For ₹40K, Gets Sued

We all know how gaming has become a crucial part of peoples’ life these days. Not only are they earning crores of rupees by playing videogames online, but people can now earn a degree in the said field.

Recently, a Chinese gamer sued his friend for selling his video game character worth Rs.10 crore for a mere sum of Rs.40000. According to the Independent, Lu Mou who had spent nearly 10 million yuan ( Rs. 10 crore approximately) developing a character in the game Justice Online, gave it to his friend Li Mouscheng for playing the game.

While returning the game, Mouscheng, who was feeling “dizzy from excessive gaming”, made a mistake and accidentally sold the customized character on the in-game marketplace NetEase for just 3,888 yuan (Rs.40000 approximately), reports News18.

The matter then reached the court. A judge at the Hongya County Court ruled that the game character must be returned to the original owner. Also, the loss of ¥90,000 would be awarded to the person who bought the customized character for the discounted price.

The court order comes in the backdrop of Beijing announcing strict measures on gamers to tackle online gaming addiction in the country.  The court has now warned people about spending too much time playing games and the dangers of excessive gaming.
