Man Out On A Skating Adventure Saves 3 Deers Stranded On A Frozen Lake, Watch Video

Winter is here and most parts of the world are freezing due to the dip in the mercury level. Canada is one such place that is bearing the brunt of winter. Water bodies have frozen into sheets of ice and snowfalls and the chilling wind has swept most parts of the country. While humans find several ways to keep them warm and cosy in the extreme weather conditions, it’s the animals who often have to bear the bone-chilling weather, out in the open.

But for every unfortunate soul stuck in a vulnerable situation, there is someone to comfort them and give them a new life. For this family of deers who were freezing in the Canadian winters, this man from Ontario came as a saviour. According to The Daily Mail, Ryan Peterson who was out and about to take advantage of the freezing temperatures and was all geared up to skate across Lake of the Woods in northern Ontario found a trio of whitetail deer struggling to stand on the frozen lake. He found them stuck on the ice sheets, trying their best to reach a safer spot.

Ryan first gave them some time to figure their way out themselves. But when he came back from lunch and found them still stuck on the ice, exhausted and helpless, he decided to pull them to the shore.

“If they’re upright, they can kick you. But once they’re down on the ice, their legs are flat out and they can’t lift them. I figured I’d go back and eat lunch and grab some rope,” he said, “I gave them about an hour or so. They were still in the same place when I came back and that’s when I pulled them into shore,” Ryan told The Guardian.

He decided to loop a rope around each of the deer and pull them to a safer spot. “I went back to work and grabbed some rope. The ice was still too thin for any kind of vehicle, so skating was the only option,” he said. First, he approached the mother and pulled her to shore. Ryan then approached the two fawns in the same way and pulled them off the ice sheets.

Once the fawns reached the spot where their mother was waiting, they shook the snow off their lithe bodies and made their way into the wild. “The two younger ones took off running right away, but the doe stuck around with what seemed like an injured hip or leg,” he added.

The video of his heroic act was extensively shared online and garnered praises from people online.

Although the deer family were safe with only the mother being a little bit injured, it wasn’t clear how they got stuck there.“I’m not entirely sure how they walked all the way out there. But they definitely walked out there,” Ryan said.

But all’s well that ends well right? We are just glad Ryan got there on time.
