Do you know what is the harsh reality that innumerable people fail to acknowledge? Indian women are not safe anywhere, let alone on public transport. Numerous women experience sexual harassment while travelling in buses, autorickshaws, cabs, metros and trains which are breeding grounds for sexually predatory behavior. Despite there being awareness and concrete laws to prevent such cases, here’s another incident that happened recently.
According to News18, a 47-year-old man allegedly masturbated on the face of a female passenger on a train who was sleeping. The incident happened at 7.30 AM near Gokarna Railway Station in Karnataka.
The man has been identified as Dattatray Chavan from Maharashtra’s Sangli who works in Kannur, Kerala. The woman, who is 22 years old, was travelling to Goa along with two friends, who are of the same age, to shoot videos. They reportedly were cinematographers. While the woman was sleeping, it was her friends who noticed the shocking act and immediately contacted the emergency number.
The police eventually came and took action. The man has been arrested.
