In the wide world of the Internet, trolling is that inescapable aunty who keeps on asking, ‘Beta shaadi kab karoge?’ (Sorry, aunty!) But, the point is that Internet trolls have begun thinking that trolling is their full-time job.
When not shaming any celebrity for their looks or their acts, trolls are constantly on the lookout for fresh targets. And, falling prey this time is Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s wife, Amruta Fadnavis.
CM’s wife recently shared images from the charity event she was part of and where she’s playing Santa to poor kids, this soon-approaching Christmas season.
launched-Be Santa-campaign, as Ambassador for @927BIGFM – to collect gifts from people -for poor children ,to bring smiles to their faces during this Christmas.Drop ur gifts at nearest @927BIGFM & Feel the joy -as best way to multiply your happiness is by sharing it with others🎅 pic.twitter.com/r5UTAi3nDY

And, all was merry? We think not!
Amid the usual applauses, there were people who called her anti-national and said that she was promoting Christianity.
1. They questioned why only Christmas, and not year-round?
Why only this Xmas time. Your effort should start from Independence day Independence from poverty Diwali to distribute sweet clothes so that they can be happy. If all these done No One Will Die of Cold on Dec 25. @ShefVaidya @RituRathaur @ExSecular @Dev_Fadnavis

2. Some slipped in more festivals.
Maam. Shall we have similar activity on makar sankrant?? Thats marathi gifts giving diwas
— Adrak_Lasoon (@pdubhashi) December 13, 2017
3. Some questioned her “agenda”.
Keep this positivity for Hindu festivals too…Voted to power to hold Hindu values…looks some missionary side by this agenda…

4. This guys slammed Santa.
could you do this for Deepavali, Yugaadi, Rakshabandhan?. Each one has better symbolic link than the mythical Santa, not to speak of christianty that took over the pagan story and tradition
— bhaarat premi (@bhaarat_premi) December 12, 2017
5. People started tagging PM in the post questioning the motive.
Launch Be Krishna or Be Ganesh or Be BHIM campaign – @BJP4India what’s going on? @narendramodi @AmitShah
— Idon'tKnow (@moorlee) December 12, 2017
6. Mrs. Fadnavis’s serving interests were questioned too.
Did you give any gifts for poor kids during diwali why only christmas. Whose interest are you serving
— Mamatha (@Mamatha89573735) December 12, 2017
7. She was charged for promoting the conversion to Christianity.
Ma'm..you are leading Christian missionaries agenda of converting hapless Hindus and giving them a platform…sad to see @Dev_Fadnavis and @BJP4India to be a mute spectator. Give gifts whatever u wish to kids, why promote Christianity in the garb of Santa and Christmas…
— P 🇮🇳 (@ind_psc) December 12, 2017
8. That sarcastic dig,
Husband @Dev_Fadnavis leading Christmas prayers, wife @fadnavis_amruta launching Be Santa campaign. Hallelujah! Praise be to the Lord! Harvesting souls in Maharashtra just became a lot easier!
— Shefali Vaidya. (@ShefVaidya) December 12, 2017
It was after taking in a lot of hate, Amruta replied with a real positive clapback.
Love , sharing & empathy have no religion – let’s accept all positivity around us & stay away from negative thoughts & demotivating energies !
— AMRUTA FADNAVIS (@fadnavis_amruta) December 12, 2017
And, even said how she’s a proud Hindu who celebrates every festival.
I’m a proud Hindu & like many, I celebrate every festival in my country & that is an individual choice…. We represent the true spirit of our country … and that doesn’t dilute our love towards our country , religion & humanity ….
— AMRUTA FADNAVIS (@fadnavis_amruta) December 12, 2017
Well done.
Humanity doesn’t need a particular day for being charitable. Accepted. But there’s also no need to bring anyone down for doing it around a particular festival. When will Indians learn to keep communalism out of everything? It is still a secular country, guys.
