Live-in relationships have still not found mainstream acceptance in our country. A large part of our population considers them to be taboo to be frowned upon. Even those that seem a little more accepting consider these only as ‘temporary arrangements’ which will eventually lead to marriage.
This short film ‘Teri Meri Christmas’, uploaded by The Short Cuts, shows a day in the life of a couple struggling to keep anyone from finding out about their live-in relationship. Their landlord thinks the guy is gay while the girl’s parents take him to be the household help. The film manages to put a hilarious spin on the very real problems faced by couples in live-in relationships in India.
