Man Takes Inspiration From ‘Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl’ And Dupes 15 Women Of ₹50 Lakh

Movies are a source of entertainment to provide respite to an over-worked mind. However, some people astonish us by taking unusual inspiration from these movies to accomplish crimes, whether it is robbing a bank in the “Dhoom” style or conning grooms like the movie “Dolly Ki Doli“.

In a similar incident reported by Times Of India, a man confessed to taking inspiration from the film “Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl” and conned around 15 women for more than Rs 50 lakh on the pretext of marriage.

The 34-year-old accused, Yogesh Garg, contacted women through matrimonial sites and targeted middle-aged working women or divorcees. He used aliases like Kiran Rajput and Sameer, pretending to be working for firms like Goldman Sachs.

The accused would then lure the women to holiday destinations and then secretly record them after getting them in compromising positions.

He then proceeded to blackmail them with said pictures to extort money.

The police has unearthed a number of fake documents like Aadhaar card, voter card and Pan card from the accused which also includes nine sim cards, an I-card of Goldman Sachs and another of American Express, five boarding passes and four debit cards.

Attention of the police was brought to the matter when a missing report of a lady and her minor son was lodged at Vivek Vihar police station in East Delhi, by the brother of the woman. The woman was a teacher and was missing since September 3. The brother also told the police about the man she was in contact with on a matrimonial site.

The police chased the accused down to New Delhi railway station and arrested him just before he was about to board a train to Mumbai. The missing duo of mother and son were accompanying him. The woman alleged that Garg had taken Rs 3 lakhs from her and established physical relations with her.

Movies cannot be blamed for the message people choose to take away from them. “Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl” ended on a happy note and so did this, with the “bloody kameena” behind bars for his crime.
