Video Shows Kerala Cop Sharing His Food With A Homeless Man, Receives Praise Online

Some of us hesitate to approach khaki-clad police officers given their stern demeanour. But officers are nothing but regular people hiding behind their ‘dabang’ personalities. Remember how UP cops helped a young couple get married and hosted their ‘Nikah’ inside the police station? Nagpur Police offering women safe rides in their vehicles from 9 pm To 5 am back to their homes, also comes to our mind.

Now, a police officer is being praised by people for his heart-warming gesture towards a homeless man. As reported by Hindustan Times, SS Sreejtih from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala was about to have his food on a ‘hartal day’ when he saw a ragged man staring at him.

When the 30-year-old Kerala police officer realised that the man was starving, he offered to share his meal with him. Sreejtih shared:

“When I was about to open my food packet I saw a person watching whole proceedings closely. I could make out he is hungry. I asked him whether he had food and he said no.”

The old man at first hesitated, but when the officer insisted, he agreed. “Then I told him to join me. Initially, he refused but when I prodded, he agreed.” A video of his kind gesture was posted on Kerala State Police Media Centre’s Facebook page.

Sreejith was praised by one and all online including Kerala DGP Loknath Behra.

However, he said that it was a casual act and he didn’t expect such a response. “It was a casual act and initially I was scared by the response it elicited,” he said.

Well, a small act of kindness is all it takes to make a tremendous impact in someone else’s life. Salute to you, SS Sreejtih!
