Most of us got to know about the concept of ‘intimacy coordination’ during the promotions of the film ‘Gehraiyaan’. Dar Gai was the intimacy coordinator for that film and earlier, she had worked for Prateek Kuhad’s music video ‘cold/mess’. Now, what does an intimacy coordinator do?
These professionals are responsible for choreographing and orchestrating intimate scenes on sets. They make the actors comfortable and design the movements and the length to which an act of intimacy can go. For example, if the two actors are making out on screen, will the act be more gentle or energetic, will it be more sensual or messy – these are the things that are dictated by the coordinator.
Diljit Dosanjh, on the other hand, has no idea who an intimacy coordinator is.

In a round-table conversation with fellow actors including Rajkummar Rao, Tillotama Shome, Kartik Aaryan, Shefali Shah and others, the topic of intimacy coordinators come up, to which Kartik Aaryan says he’s worked with some.
“How are you guys with shooting intimacy and nudity?” asks Tillotama Shome.
“Very comfortable,” says Vijay Varma.
“Very good,” says Kartik Aaryan.
Tahir Raj Bhasin asks, “You shot with an intimacy coordinator?”, to which Kartik replies, “Ya ya, I have.”
But Diljit Dosanjh innocently asks, “Kya hai?” (What’s that)
Kartik Aaryan patiently explains, “For example, if a kissing sequence is happening, they say how much you should kiss and where to refrain.”
Diljit hilariously reacts, “Accha Accha. Sach mein hota hai bata?”
