Karnataka: Medical Student Grows Ganja At Home & Sells It To College Students In The City

Humankind’s love for maal is eternal. However, in most parts of our country, possession of cannabis or ganja or weed is a criminal act and can get a person into serious legal trouble, reports TOI. The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act prohibits the sale and production of cannabis. However, there are certain Indian states that have the power to regulate and form rules for themselves when it comes to the sale and consumption of weed. For example, in Odisha, Jaipur and Varanasi ganja is legal and people consume it in the form of ‘chhilums’ within the state’s territory, reports The Guardian. In Karnataka, the production, selling and consumption are strictly against the law.

Hence, the Karnataka Police arrested three individuals from the city of Shivamooga for growing cannabis at home and selling it to students. They have seized ganja, ganja seeds and Charas from the accused.
