Bollywood biggies, Karan Johar and Twinkle Khanna go a long way back. I know, I’m not making any revelation of the century here, but I would like your kind attention to the fact that both share a bond, beyond words. I mean, not long ago, Twinkle and Akshay decided to pay her old pal Karan a visit and God knows, it brewed more than just ‘Koffee‘!
While the camaraderie or companionship between KJo and Tina is unmissable, there still exists a medium that sits sans their effortless collaboration. Let me rephrase it for you; Twinkle Khanna decided to turn Mrs Funnybones (and HOW!) and Karan has rightly followed suit with ‘An Unsuitable Boy‘ (which frankly-basically shook the nation.) But I did some Saturdays-make-me-thoughtful thinking and realised the two SHOULD co-author a book!
Now, on further digging, my conviction gave me 10 reasons why Karan and Twinkle, absolutely should pick their pens and create a book together! Care to dive in?
I’m assuming that’s a yes.
1. They’re high school friends and went to the same boarding school.Â
Okay, the pictures might date a little back in the days but I’ve seen and heard interviews where Karan has expressed his love for Tina and the escapade, of how she helped him run away from the boarding school. What could be stronger than that? Pals who have each other’s back even in crimes. Now isn’t that something you’d want to read in a book? Be it a biography or a memoir, their gell-o-well partnership could fill pages!
2. They’re both kids of popular Industry veterans.
Rajesh Khanna and Yash Johar don’t need any introduction. One, a legendary actor and another a crafty filmmaker, both left their children huge shoes to fill in. But as time would suggest, the star kids here, have outgrown their initial identities and have become everything they’re today. And that is something I’m dying to read; authors coming out of their cast and taking over as a new entity altogether!
3. They’re both underrated actors!
The world knows what happened to ‘Bombay Velvet’. While I don’t deem it my right to comment on any work of art, the movie sank and so did Karan’s aspirations of making it as an actor. However, if I may, KJo’s gangsta look had me convinced. Even Twinkle for that matter never got her due. ‘Mela’, which showed her in a different light, later paved the way to an early marriage to Akshay (because it tanked too). This pinch, right here, could unfold a lot of creativity, in ways more than one. A book? A novel? Who knows how it’ll shape!
4. They’re now both producers
While Dharma production is already ruling the roost, Twinkle’s Mrs Funnybones Movies is all set to debut it’s first with a promising R Balki directorial. And who am I to doubt a producer’s imagination of producing a bestseller? Don’t want to miss out on all the drama, do you?Â
5. Both are friends with industry’s who’s who!
You have to understand that I tried, but there is no other way of saying it. But for how long do we read juicy tabloids of the likes of ‘Miss’ and ‘Mr’ to learn about our favourite celebs? These two could write a thesis if they want to, without any kind of exaggeration! Win-win, isn’t it?
6. Both give it back as good as they get.
If Twitter conversations are anything to go by, both our stars are hailed as demi-Gods in the Twitterverse. While Twinkle has long back confessed to being, ‘troll-proof’, Karan, on the other hand, is giving trolls left, right and centre. How about a compilation of the choicest comebacks, at least?Â

7. Both of them have had their share of legal drama!
I’m not sure how many of you have been living under the rock but Twinkle was once sent a summon for ‘obscenity’ and unzipping her HUSBAND in the public for a brand event. While that was that, need I say anything about the historically infamous AIB roast that almost had KJo behind bars? Now let’s admit it; courtroom drama makes the best read!Â
8. Other than their professional fronts both pursue their passion.
For those of you who are not in the know, Karan is a costume designer/stylist whenever he wishes to and Twinkle is a proud owner of an interior decor store, ‘The White House’. Can you imagine that kind of creativity and beautiful juxtapositions with words? Who wouldn’t want to read that?Â
9. Both have a thing for humour!Â
I safely assume, there is no explaining to do in this department?! If Ms Funnybones isn’t clear enough please go through her columns and opinion pieces. Also, haven’t you ever watched Karan at his ‘conjecture!’ Ahhhhh…What would I not give to read a book of the same explosively witty material?!
10. Both have a command in English, easy to comprehend.Â
Well, despite that, I cannot think of one reason why this colloquially apt duo shouldn’t teach us a word or two from their amazing vocabulary!Â
