If you have been watching all the episodes of ‘Koffee With Karan’ lately, you would know that Karan Johar is OBSESSED with Alia Bhatt. There is not a single episode where he hasn’t mentioned her. Be it her wedding or the fact that she apparently is ‘the best actress’ in the country right now, KJo always finds an excuse to bring her up.
It has come to the point where it’s become annoying. Because when you’re talking to an actor like Kriti Sanon, who was fabulous in the film ‘Mimi’ and also received a Filmfare award for it recently, you can’t insinuate that Alia is the benchmark that she has to reach.
“What about envy, or competition, or jealousy sometimes with your contemporaries? There is so much chatter about Alia being the best actor in the country. Is it an acceptance at your level or is it also driving you to get there yourself?” Karan Johar asks Kriti.

Several people online couldn’t help but call out his favouritism. Many people mentioned that while Alia is no doubt a good actor, she isn’t the be-all and end-all of Bollywood right now.

It is true that Alia Bhatt is a good actor and she was incredible in Gangubai Kathiawadi. But are there better actors than Alia? Of course! She might have delivered a career-defining film recently but does that mean her acting prowess remains unmatched? I beg to differ. Vidya Balan in Sherni, Rasika Dugal and Shefali Shah in Delhi Crime season 2, Samantha Ruth Prabhu in Family Man 2, and Radhika Apte (in general) have been incredible in their performances.
And also, have we completely forgotten about Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra? Like Sonam Kapoor had said while calling PeeCee the top female actor in the country, we need to look at the whole picture. Don’t you agree?
