2017 has been a year of Kangana and controversies. From her sensational, alleged affair with Hrithik Roshan to her taking the likes of Karan Johar head on calling him ‘the flag bearer of nepotism’.
Kangana Ranaut has never been one to take things sitting down. She isn’t known for diplomacy and calls things out for what they are.
In a radio interview with journalists, Kangana shared her views on award ceremonies. According to Pinkvilla, the Queen actor said,
“I remember one incident where I was late for an award function. They told me in advance that I was receiving the award for Metro and that I had to be there on time because it was for the supporting category.”
Kangana said that because she got stuck in traffic the organisers kept calling her to know where she was. However, after a while, the calls stopped coming. She reached the venue and realised that Soha Ali Khan had got the award for Rang De Basanti because Kangana was late.
The Tanu Weds Manu star shared another anecdote from an award function. She said,
Kangana said that however, she couldn’t come because just the commuting would cost her around 10 lakhs and she would miss classes. They gave the award to Supriya Pathak for Ram Leela instead.
She also said that the editor of the publication got so mad that she didn’t show up for an award for Queen that he still doesn’t talk to her. The next year too they made sure not to give her an award for Tanu Weds Manu Returns. She said,
“The next year they made sure I didn’t get the Best Actress award for #TWMR and then I got the National Award. Then they got trolled.”
However, the editor in question, Jitesh Pillaai took to Twitter to put his point forward.
Apparently Kangana Ranaut has given a radio interview where she says I told her she was winning for krrish 🙄🙄🙄. Is she hallucinating? I’ve never had a conversation with her about krrish 😂😂😂

He also dissed her for her statement on how the Filmfare team doesn’t talk to her saying that they shot a cover with her in August. He even shared pictures from the shoot.
Kangana further adds that the Filmfare team doesn’t talk to her. We just shot a cover with her in August in London. Our team was present 😂😂😂 having a wonderful time with her pic.twitter.com/Q0cNwZVj9j

He said that he “didn’t go to anyone’s house or beg anyone to accept the award”. He also says that it was Kangana who sent her driver to collect the award.
And if memory serves me right kangana reportedly sent her driver to collect her Filmfare trophy to anand rai’s office. I didn’t go to anyone’s house or beg anyone to accept award🙄🙄🙄

He said that there was also a reference to Sonam Kapoor. Pillaai defended her by saying that a “good performance is a good performance”.
There’s also a reference to Sonam Kapoor being made by the host. And an incorrect assumption being made too by him. Box office doesn’t determine the merit of a performance. A good performance is a good performance. Simple

The Twitter war continued and Sonam joined in. She too agreed with his statement and said that Filmfare is the most legitimate of all award shows.
I completely agree with you jits 🤗 of all the awards I have to agree that filmfare is the most legitimate! https://t.co/yIA2YjB0sC

Thank you baby. Clearly it doesn’t suit the conspiracy narrative na? It would be soon boring to say Filmfare is nice and all😂😂😂 https://t.co/TgJGoHCw8d

And Pillai also added replying to Sonam about her film Neerja saying that he never discussed which movie deserved the award more, Neerja or Udta Punjab.
It’s damn funny I also don’t remember having any conversation with you about Neeraj vs Udta Punjab and who deserved what award😂😂. https://t.co/TgJGoHCw8d

From what happened at The Zee Cinema Awards, it’s obvious that we cannot trust the award ceremonies in India. Time and again award shows have proved that they are nothing but a publicity gimmick and not truly celebrating the art of filmmaking.
