These are two of the smoothest men we have seen. The silver tongued devils are the greatest pick up artists you can have as your wing-men. You walk into a room with them and you know you’re getting lucky tonight. Or is it?
Things may not turn out as great as you’d imagine when these two gentlemen have got your back. Here’s why:
1. The two have very different games
Barney Stinson is suited, sharp, knows his words and has a rule for everything. Joey Tribbiani is too laid back for all that and he can only go with the flow. Who’re you going to follow? You’d want to skip all the textbook jargon that Barney mumbles on and be more like Tribbiani but then again, Joey can make stupid look sexy and that kind of a game would be a little too high for you.
You’re going to spend the entire night trying to choose your master.
2. To suit up or not to suit up
If Barney Stinson agrees to be your wing-man, there’s going to be one ground rule – suit up! If you’re okay with wearing suit no matter what day of the week or what time of the day it is, and most importantly, if you can afford one, you could play along.
However, we are forgetting a very important part of the equation – Joey Tribbiani. When you two are suited up, Tribbiani is going to be the third wheel, dressed in a turtleneck and jeans, laughing at you and probably imitating his friend, Chandler he would sneer at you, “Could I BE wearing anymore clothes?”.
3. They’re both sharks
You have to remember you’re out with the deadliest womanizers around while you’re still a rookie. If you do not have their confidence yet, your night could end up just as good every night ends for Gunther, the manager at Central Perk.
When Barney Stinson and Joey Tribbiani declares game on, you would have to keep up and that’s no easy deal. This is the time you’d remember Ross Geller and Ted Mosby (probably discussing ancient archaeology together now) and respect them for being able to keep up with these dating giants.
4. If you’re in love you’re in bad hands
Barney and Joey are the last people to get help from if you’re actually pursuing someone you love. First of all, Barney Stinson would not approve of your girlfriend, or the the girl you want to be your girlfriend, if she’s not a stripper or a bikini model. If she’s one of them, it’d be advisable to keep her away from Barney.
Also, you know you’re in wrong hands if Joey goes “How You Doin’?‘” on your girl.
5. Some really bad advice
Although, these two are legendary with their ways with women, it may not be a very good idea to take their advice very seriously. If you land a date, there’s going to be a part where you have dinner with the girl. Now if the girl wants a spoonful of what you’ve ordered, you better not stick to Tribbiani’s no food sharing policy.
Also, Barney would have already put the thoughts of you motor-boating on her lady parts which is not going to work out for you when you’re trying to make meaningful conversation over dinner.
6. Their reputation will precede you
If you are out to play the field with Joey Tribbiani and Barney Stinson, chances are all the girls around know the two legendary players and their reputation is not unknown to anyone either. Therefore, as a man is known by the company he keeps, you my friend, would be seen as the untalented, not so dashing version of Barney and Joey whose sole objective is to score and sneak out before dawn.
That’s not going to help your case at all.
