10,500 Sarees And ₹3.5 Crores In Gold Are Among Jayalalithaa’s Assets In Custody Today

After the sad demise of Tamil Nadu CM and prominent politician Jayalalithaa, the illegal wealth case registered against her back in 1996 has been abated. However, the assets that were seized by the Karnataka court as a part of the case still remain in the court’s custody.

The seized assets amount to an ungodly sum of money and include possessions ranging from lavish sarees to kilos of gold and silver items including a sword!

 

Here’s the complete list: 

1. 10,500 sarees

 

2. 750 pairs of slippers

 

3. 21.28kg of gold jewellery valued at ₹3.5 crores

 

4. 1,250kg of silver articles worth ₹3.12 crores

 

5. Diamonds worth ₹2 crores

 

6. 500 glasses of wine

 

7. And a sword!

The assets are being guarded round the clock by an armed reserve police force.

Senior leaders from the AIADMK party had hoped that the assets could be displayed in a museum in memory of Jayalalithaa. However, the court can only make a decision regarding the assets only after the final judgement has been rendered.
