The Indian film industry lost an irreplaceable icon this year with the untimely death of icon Sridevi. Even 2 months later, we are still in shock of everything that transpired. However, the ones who paid the heftiest price are her husband and two daughters. The bond she shared with them transcended all their stardom. Janhvi Kapoor especially had Sridevi guide her through the better part of her debut film. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain of losing her mentor, best friend and mom all in one go.
Her emotional open letter to Sri about the gnawing hollowness in her chest still tugs at my heart. And yesterday, Janhvi paid another beautiful tribute to her mom.
Attending the 65th National Award ceremony in Delhi, to collect the Best Actress Award for ‘Mom‘ on Sridevi’s behalf, Jahnvi donned a sari from her mom’s personal collection.
The 21-year old looked just as ethereal as her mom in the ivory and pink textured sari with a soft gold border. Look at them side by side in the same sari:
Adding to the beauty while keeping it simple, she accessorised the look with a pair of matching jhumkis and kadas. Her subtle makeup with kohl-rimmed eyes makes us marvel at how similar she looks to her gorgeous mother.
Young Khushi Kapoor also opted to go for a look that was reminiscent of Sri’s Tamilian roots.
Designer and best friend to Sri, Manish Malhotra Instagrammed the images of the girls and he was practically gushing with pride.
The duo arrived at the ceremony with their father Boney Kapoor.

Manish posted a video of the three of them as well, going on stage to receive the award on behalf of the late actress.
This video made me emotional on so many levels.
The designer Instagrammed one more photo of Janhvi in another saree and I can’t help but see glimpses of her mother in her.
The amount of grace and elan this young girl has been showcasing can only be attributed to her mother. Sridevi had for all her years in the industry been an icon of sophistication and charm. We may not be able to get her back but it looks like her daughters are following right in her footsteps in everything from beauty and elegance to talent. Good luck girls.
